Legally embattled "X-Men" director Bryan Singer cleared up an apparent media misconception about his sexuality in a new Out magazine interview.
"I’m quite bisexual," he told the publication. "In the last five years, I’ve had two girlfriends — one for two years, one for eight months."
Claiming that he's never gone public because "sexuality is so complex," Singer added, "In the end, it’s probably going to be a guy. I emotionally lean towards male relationships, so I’m happy to say I’m gay, too, if it’s a one-syllable, easy answer.”
Prior to the interview, Singer was identified by a number of media outlets as being gay.
Singer spoke to Out magazine's Shana Naomi Krochmal just days before Michael Egan III, a former aspiring model and actor, came forward with a lawsuit, claiming that the director sexually abused him during a trip in Hawaii in 1999.
Egan, who is seeking more than $75,000 for emotional distress, battery, assault and invasion of privacy, said Singer began abusing him some time before 1999 when he was 15 years old in Los Angeles. The case focuses solely on the alleged Hawaii incident, according to the Associated Press.
Weeks later, Singer was named alongside Broadway producer Gary Goddard in a second lawsuit, filed by an anonymous British teenager who claimed that the men sexually assaulted him in a London hotel room in 2006, Variety reported.
Meanwhile, Singer, 48, has slammed the allegations as "outrageous, vicious and completely false."
Singer skipped the New York premiere of his latest movie, “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” amidst the legal controversy, according to Variety.
